After making plenty money and getting a Canadian visa, finding true love is there on the dream list for most Nigerian adults. And I blame romantic comedies and Hills & Boom novels for this. But even more annoying is the fact that people diligently hold onto these myths about true love as they chase after it;

1. You will just know when you see true love.

These people are telling us that people who literally wallow in uncertainty all through life will suddenly be blessed with rock-solid certainty when they see their true love? Like you could be uncertain about what to eat, where to work, when to retweet tweets etc but when you see the love of your life certainty will just fall on you?

2. Money is not as important.

Laughing in rent, food costs and data costs. You literally get a bill everyday for just existing.

3. Looks don’t matter.
