Dear Nigerian Designers, These Stock Photos Are Tired Of You

December 3, 2020

The internet is blessed with a ton of stock images that help people convey their messages better and clearer, but Nigerian designers only recycle about 5, no matter what they’re trying to convey.

If you’re a designer and you use any of these stock images, please change your ways.

1. This man is tired of delivering your shit

If it’s not food today, he’s delivering electronics tomorrow. Please, my man just wants to spend ONE weekend with his family.

2. If you listen closely, you can hear him begging you to stop

This guy probably sees this picture on his phone every five seconds. Please, there are other happy looking black men on the internet. Let him rest.

3. Please give this guy paracetamol

Hassan, please come and interview this guy for “A Week In The Life“.

4. Couple goals

We should probably interview them for ‘Love Life‘ and ask what it feels like to be carrying the entire Nigerian market on their shoulders while still maintaining their relationship.

5. Big man!

If you see this guy on an ad, it’s probably one of those ones that promise that you’ll blow in six months after you start using their products.

6. The perfect family

It’s almost impossible to drive around Lagos without finding a billboard with this family on it. Try it and see for yourself.

7. “Are you tired of being broke?”

Can’t even lie, there’s something about this picture that just makes me want to keep looking at it.

8. “WIN BIG!”

What’s the first brand that comes to your mind when you see this picture?

9. Is this the same guy?

This guy is everywhere.

10. The corporate woman

Standing in the corner, grey suit, arms folded, smiling. Perfect.
