There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Davido — “Get To You”

Following a 7-year wait, Davido has finally released his sophomore album, A Good Time. While the project is unsurprisingly packed with earworms, the track that immediately stands out is the refreshingly mellow love song, “Get To You”.

On the track, which sounds like it would have been a perfect fit for Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift

, Davido sings about doing just about anything to be with his lover. On an album stacked with love songs, “Get To You” definitely hits the hardest.

Stormzy — “Own It”

Grime powerhouse, Stormzy is gearing up to release his second studio album, Heavy Is The Head in a few weeks. To build anticipation for the project, he’s dropped “Own It”, a party-starter that features Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran.

While it’s an admittedly odd pairing — a grime maven, an afro-fusion master and a genre-bending pop star  — “Own It” still manages to work. The track, which is about falling in love in the middle of a rave, definitely feels primed to be a big hit.
