Reality competition singing show, MTN Y’ello Star returned this last weekend with two super exciting shows which saw the 12 hopefuls who were given MAYBEs battle (each other) for the six remaining spots in the top 13. Both shows had many high points. Here are some of them.
1) We got to meet the hosts of the show.
The hosts are ex-Big Brother Naija contestant, Tobi Bakre, and actress and food connoisseur, Hilda Bacci.
2) There was a surprise twist to the finalists.
Yes. There was only one spot left to be filled and it was down to Gideon and Jesse. However, the judges decided to break the rules and let both of them into the competition, increasing the number of final contestants from 13 to 14.
3) We got a sneak peek of the Y’ello Hub.
The Y’ello Hub is where the contestants will be put up throughout the competition. It’s a beautiful, well-furnished house that contains everything the contestants will need to live and learn with a curriculum to guide them.
4) The show’s premiere event took place.
Judges, Omawumi and Banky W were in attendance. Along with other celebrities such as Faze, Saka, and Cobhams Asuquo.
5) The opening gala.
It started with all 14 contestants performing an opening group number. Then they performed individual numbers, after which the judges critiqued and graded them.
